Just out of curiosity, was there any consideration to merge?
Do the libraries honor each other cards? Since
Brooklyn and Queens tend to blend in with each other,
I would think those two would be a natural candidate.
I think there's been trend to merge libraries.
In my home county, most of the libraries are owned
by the county, and all except one (a private library)
share the computer card catalog, use a single card,
and operate as a unified system.
In Pennsylvania, all public libraries will honor cards
from throughout the state. (The drawback of that is
that if you go someplace distant to borrow a book, you
have to go back to return it. It's probably easier to
get stuff via Interlibrary Loan.) |
