Queens Surface Bus Fares

When I used my MetroCard today it subtracted $1.50.
Is this right?

Yes. Queens Surface is a private line operated under the NYC Dept of
Transportation not under the MTA. Private lines are not entitled to
the fare increase unless they file on their own.

Just note that if you transfer to the subway, the turnstile will
deduct an additional 50 cents.

That's right. All Queens Buses will deduct $1.50 when using a metrocard.
$1 cash fare during weekends and off peak times. If you transfer from
bus to train, the turnstiles will deduct another $0.50 when you enter.
