Default Harmon Cove

I went out to ride the new Main-Bergen connection this weekend. I was
wondering if NJT had a truly legitimate reason for discontinuing service
to Harmon Cove since the new line misses the west end of the station
parking lot by perhaps 100 feet. Why wasn't the station relocated?

It was relocated ... to the new Secaucus station.

The shuttle service (for Harmon Cove residents) is quite frequent. It
does add 20 minutes to Hoboken-bound travel, but will considerably
shorten travel time to Midtown once New York-bound service begins next
month.

Former Bergen Line tracks east of HX and the former Harmon Cove
station have been torn up, presumably to be used as an access road for
the new 16X interchange of the NJ Turnpike.

I really do not think this will be acceptable to many of those who used to

board trains there and who are bound for lower Manhattan. I suspect
that ridership on that shuttle will drop dramatically from levels seen
during rail service. I would not be terribly surprised if the service
was quietly dropped within 5 to 10 years.

Again, the question is why was a new platform not built on the new
alignment?
