You're assuming that most people are within audible distance of their
car alarm. If someone can not hear his/her alarm go off, then it
didn't go off. If they don't hear it go off repeatedly, then it's not
broken (and doesn't get fixed).

It's actually more of the New York "that %#*%!! alarm on the that Red
Jeep is going off again. That's the sixth time in the past hour,"
manifestation.

As I write this, I can hear an alarm nearby.

So you thrive in the land of busibodies, vigilantes, militias, and those
who object to government intervention in anything except people's
private lives?

Actually, having lived in the West for almost 30 years now, I have found
that there are many more busybodies and people who want to tell other
people how to run their lives in the Northeast than I have even seen in
the West. In the Southwest where I live, people tend to stay out of
other's lives except in time of trouble. In the Northeast, if you dont
run your life the way that they think you should, you are all wrong.
