Subway purists and "Pelham 1-2-3" fans are two different (but somewhat
overlapping) entities. My idea of a "subway purist" is to build new
cars that look like and operate like the IRT Lo-Vs and the BMT
Standards of my youth, but that's not going to happen.
47 years ago I was with the Strategic Air Command and a film about SAC
called "Gathering of Eagles" was filmed at one of the bases that I
routinely visited. The film included some operational exercises that
I routinely evaluated. Yes, there were some very gross errors, some
intentional, but that didn't detract from the film's plot line for the
average viewer.

Then you are not a REAL "Pelham 1-2-3" aficionado :-) . I have the
hardcover book (I used to have the paperback but it went out on loan
and disappeared over the years), the video of the first movie, an
off-the-cable recording of the ABC remake (one day I have to redub it
to remove the ads) and am looking forward to the new release.
They are all very different one from another, but that's what remakes
are all about.

I heard the latter while I was driving (we don't get "The Takeaway"
here). Made me even more interested in seeing the film.
