 How's the weather on Mt. Whitney weather in August/September?

It's usually pretty good. Be prepared for afternoon thunderstorms and
for possible light snow in the latter part of your window. Since you
don't have a permit, I'm assuming you'll be doing the Mountaineer's
Route in a day. If you want to do the the East Face or other climbs
you'd better be really fast (to do it in a day) or check ASAP for
available overnight permits for the NFLPC. Permit availability is easier
as it gets later in the season.
