| | Guest | Amersham Just been reading on Wikipedia that Amersham might be going down to having
just two trains an hour? Is that not a really poor service?

I think the branch closed before the current subsidy scheme was agreed.
Until the late 1990s the line east of Loughton was all out of boundary and
not included on the standard travelcard.

Shuttle services are never popular with a public that like through services
and don't like spending ages on station platforms or relying on connections
that they don't information about until they reach the interchange. Since
they upped the Amersham service from 2 to 4 tph I guess they've had many
more passengers who don't know which is the Chesham train waiting for ages
who'd rather kill time further south (and not run up two hour limits on
Oyster). | |

What is there around Epsom Downs that's covered by TfL?

The Central Line runs Westbound-Eastbound, there is no North! :-)

Hah. You want to see the National Rail fares for places a similar radius
out which aren't lucky enough to be on tube fares...
FFS, _parking_ at Watford Junction's £7...

The station (and Banstead) is in zone 6 for Travelcards. (Belmont is in
London and has just the one train an hour) Also no trains on Sundays.

Sudbury & Harrow Road has a much poorer service.

Yes but being in the zones isn't really "covered by TfL" in my book - they
don't run the service (although wasn't there talk of the branch being
coverted to tram?) and I don't think the buses round there are in Zone 6.
