They're robust and fit in your wallet. If you've got one of those
windows in your wallet, you can view the tube map without even taking
the card out.
Yes, you can get maps for free from LT, but they're not credit card
sized.
Just getting an idea for demand...if there's enough interest, they'll
be ready in August this year.

How can I possibly read a tube map that 2 inch by 1 inch?

I've owned such a map in the past and it showed the central area on one
side and the east and west areas on the back.

He said "in August" not "on the first day of August". If you're going
to try to be pedantic like that, you really ought to be a bit more
careful about the details.

How much is your license from TfL, out of interest?

But even so, if he hasn't yet decide if he's going to do it,
he'll be pushed for the end of august as well

Um - cos it fits in the wallet alongside all one's credit cards? Don't know
about you, but often the *only* thing I have with me is my mobile phone and
my credit-card-sized wallet, especially if I'm going out on the town. I
don't carry a girlie handbag with space for the z-card map in it.
I used to have the Mercury phone card (and thus credit-card sized) with the
Zone 1/2 map on the face, despite knowing the tube lines off by heart it's
still occasionally useful to quickly glance at the tube map, or show to some
tourists who've stopped you in the street and asked how to get to "x" etc.

The tube map in my wallet was free from LT and it is credit card size,
so why would I pay for a new one?

Though it'd work better with one printed on paper rather than card - e.g
from last year's diary.

| | Guest | Credit card sized tube map... Thanks for the great feedback. :) It's very interesting reading your
comments.
These cards are really aimed at unfortunates like myself and, it
sounds like, Cal, that require a reminder now and then where they're
going. I've already got one of these cards, and I find it very handy.
Have you tried getting close to a tube map at rush hour in a busy tube
station? It's a pain. In some of the quieter stations it's difficult
to even find a map, and the trains sometimes only have maps of the
line your on. And if you've been out partying the network can be even
more confusing.
LT obviously think there's a requirement for handy tube maps as they
give them out free (well, you pay for them via your fare).
A few people have asked me where they can get a credit card sized map,
but you can't get them from LT. Well, you can, but there's too much
info on the LT version and you have to unfold them before use. LT are
aware of my plans and discussions re licensing have taken place.
The maps I'm planning to produce will have the central zones on one
side. The other side is blank at the moment, and suggestions are
welcome. Yes, it is a bit small, but if you can't read it, you
probably should get to an opticians.
I'll keep you posted on my progress, and if you have any more to add
to the discussion please do.

stick a 2004 calendar on the reverse.
(1) because people (like my Mum) already pay £1-£2 in WH Smiths for a
credit-card sized calendar each December.
(2) because then they will keep buying it year after year.
Mind you now I'm wondering why the people who make the calendar card don't
already put the tube map on their reverse side, for London anyway. Maybe the
tube map is too expensive to licence (as another poster alluded to).
I want a free one in return for my suggestions BTW!
