Living in the Philippines

I've had the fortune to visit the Philippines several times and love the people, the country, the food, etc. -- you name it! So we are starting this new forum in hopes that our members from the Philippines might be able to get a dialogue going about life in the Philippines.

This forum need not be about travel (although I'd love to hear about your favorite areas of the country including remote islands and mountain areas).

We are going to relax the rules for this one forum sort of as a test. I guess we can allow a little politics to creep in as long as we keep discussions friendly and family oriented as we do in the other forums.

So I hope some brave soul will start a discussion about life in the Philippines!

Hello Rik,

I'm glad that you have visited Philippines. There are indeed lots of places to go here in the Philippines. I am right now here in Cebu. As you know Cebu is the Philippines' destination tourism HUB of south of the country.

Unfortunately, not too many places. I've been to Manila about five times, Baguio one time, stayed at Puerto Azul Resort on Manila Bay once, and canoed up to Pagsanjan Falls. One of my fondest memories was visiting Manila and riding a motorcycle with a friend (we each had one bike ~1200 cc Hondas) all over Manila and some of the surrounding countryside.

I've always hoped to go back and see more of the countryside including resort islands such as Cebu. Hopefully, some day....

And, what part of the Philippines are you from?

Bohol is a great place to visit for a few days great for divers especially.

i am from Philippines. I live exactly where there are lots of nice beaches - Cebu City!
