My friend and I will be arriving at 9:30 on a Fri. night and I know the
line for cabs will be an Hour + long, so does anyone have a preferred
shuttle to take?
We will be staying on the strip so the price will be cheaper than
taking a cab and hopefully the wait will be shorter.
If you are looking for a shuttle to Bills I'd say probably just go with
whatever has the shortest line and wait time, IE: some will have a sign up
that there won't be another shuttle for an hour if its very busy.
That said, its a Friday...
On our November trip to Las Vegas we arrived on a Friday night (7PM-ish) and
the taxi line was HUUUUUUUUUGE (about as long as I've ever seen it, lined up
to the baggage claim area) so we went to the shuttles and there was no line
for Showtime... was just buy tickets and board and we took the last two
seats so the shuttle was on its way.
Our destination was Luxor and I can say in hindsight that we probably would
have saved half an hour if we went through the taxi line instead:
Going down Tropicana to Las Vegas Blvd traffic was really bad.
First stop was MGM Grand and the main entrance was so snarled with taxis and
people coming and going that it took us almost 15 minutes just to get up to
the doors to let passengers off and then another 5 minutes or so to work our
way on to the street.
Next stop was NYNY and it was about the same - very bad traffic just getting
there and when we did arrive they had to stop and go and stop and go every 5
feet just to slowly inch our way up to the entrance.
After NYNY was Monte Carlo... it was so bad the driver just dropped people
off at the end of parking lot because we were sitting so long waiting to get
in there.
Excalibur and Luxor were pretty much the same as MGM Grand - took a long
time to get across Tropicana and pull in to Excalibur and then again had to
wait about 10 more minutes to get up there and unload passengers... at Luxor
he tried to get in to the normal shuttle drop off area but it was so bad he
just went around front and dropped us off at the valet after working our way
past a few dozen taxis blocking the street.
I normally have no problem with taking a shuttle as I don't mind the
normally short-ish ride and little visit to a few different properties, but
can just say that on a late Friday arrival I'd just go with the taxi and
save what will probably be a long and frustrating shuttle ride.
