| | Guest | Gold Spike Update Yesterday I was driving down Paradise, not far from
the Strat when I saw a billboard advertising the
Gold Spike downtown.
Well this morning I decided to check it out. Pulled
into their parking lot and glanced up at The Travelodge
or whatever its called, same place, chain link fence
surrounding it, all the room doors wide open.
Walking to the side door on Ogden, had to walk
around a guy with a little George Forman grill
and a cell phone charger plugged in to an electrical
outlet outside the building, also had to navigate
around several wino's holding the wall up.
Once opening the door was greeted by the aroma
of 75% mozzarella cheese & 25% barf, an
interesting combination. The place was dirty
and filthy as allways matching the patrons drinking
$1 shots & $1 Coors. I walked passed the elevators
to see the front of the casino only to be greeted by
several patrons who complained about the elevators,
I listed intently to their problem before telling them
"I don't don't here". Having clean cloths on they
mistaken me for management.
The front of the casino was roped off and several
people were working on the wiring for partially
installed (new) machines. The carpeting was new
and a pleasant patern, unlike some casino carpets
that gives you vertigo or mimicks an inter ear
infection.
The floor to ceiling girders were covered with a
veneer of stone, almost like a Jr. Station Casino.
The plasic false beams across the ceiling resembled
marble, O'bama would have been right at home
giving his acceptance speech here , there was a
sign saying blackjack & roulette coming soon.
This portion of the Casino actually looked quite
nice. I spoke to the cage person and they said
it should be open by Sept 2nd.
I think the place will fly, but only if they find a
way to discourage the local dredges to stay
out, other wise it is all for naught.

| | Guest | Gold Spike Update We we were at the Gold Spike a few years ago we also "don't don't" there. I
think the GS is THE place to don't don't.
