This is also why we usually avoid buffets. It isn't just in Vegas,
either.
I've avoided the buffet at our local casino for years because of
everything you describe in your post. Recently, they've remodeled the
buffet and I've received several free buffets for my wife and I, so
we've been back. Same thing. Wait in line. Then get up to the register
(s) and watch one girl manning one, while the other girl is drinking
her coke and chatting with a server. The open register was having some
difficulties with a customer trying to get her card to swipe. After
chatting for 5 minutes about her home life, the second girl finally
turns around to me and asks if she could help me. Like an , I said
"no thanks, I'm waiting for her" (pointing over to the other cashier
who seems to be finishing up). I told the people behind me to go
ahead.
It's unbelievable to me that these people don't even realize that
their job is to service the customer, and instead are focused on their
own whatever. Actually, being in management for the last 15 years and
working with younger people, it really doesn't surprise me, but it
does tick me off.
