Nothing against you per se, but why do people even want a landline
anymore?
Long distance? Insanity.
Every major cell carrier has excellent reception in Vegas, and everyone
has a cellphone anyway, so why waste money on another phone?
On another tangent, I'm spending about an hour a day talking to friends in
China on Skype. Video calls via a simple computer program are here
today, and its free. To China. Free.
I'm old fashioned is the simply answer. I have a cell phone and keep it in
the car for emergencies only. I wouldn't even have that if I didn't have a
catalytic converter overheat and cause a car fire in the middle of nowhere a
few years back. It costs me $7 per month plus any minutes I use. I still
like having a base phone with memory, speaker-phone etc. If I'm not home,
leave a message. Nothing is that important that somebody has to talk to me
while I'm out. I don't want to sound older than I am, but I can't stand
cell phones. I have a hard time hearing them, the multiple menus are a pain
and they are too small. It stays in the car and I never carry it with me.
I can't switch to VoIP because it doesn't work well with my broadband card,
or at least not back here in WI. My Internet access is via the card plugged
into a high-speed router and that feeds the home network. I have another
year on that contract. Maybe out there I'll have a stronger signal and can
try again.
Where I currently live, the only other choice for Internet was satellite and
then went out everytime it got a little too cloudy. No cable or DSL
available.
Hope that answers your question.
