| | Guest | I am a dice shooter, so help me understand I asked this in someone elses thread but thought I would put it to the
group as I am sure that we have many BJ players here.
Sometimes when my feet are tired I will go to a BJ table, buy-in for
2-300, play low limit, have a drink and let the dogs rest.
I have heard terms such as "you took my card" and been scolded when I
chose not to play according to statistical standards.
Has this reached superstition levels(much like, if someone hits chips
with the dice a seven is more likely to come up)due to the fact that
statistical standards are based on not knowing what cards are left in
the deck and what has been played?
Clue me in

It's your money. You play it however you want. I've seen people
double on 12 and split 3's against a dealer's face card. I can't
suppress a guffaw but the result is just as likely to help other
players as hurt them. If they don't like it they can go to another
table! | |

Sorry DD,
Please don't play at my table, bad play is annoying.
Bad play, bad karma, I'm sure you see this at
the dice tables.
As far as taking someone elses card, it happens all
the time, it is just statistics, good or bad play.
You need a 10 on a double down (30.7%), you need
a card when hitting 16 (38.4%) .

Then again one can't consider "bad play" as any play that differs what
one person rubs on his tummy at the moment.

Never worry about what someone else thinks about your play. DD. Play your
own cards the way you like and screw them.
If they don't like your play, they can leave the table.

I don't but when I am on a roll, I want to double on a 12. | |

Probably not, no, because that's only 20-30 hands. Giving away a
couple of percentage points in strategy, playing at $10 a hand, and
playing 100 hands an hour, is only about $10-20 in negative expectancy
per hour.

I can't remember if I read it on AVLV or somewhere else, but I do
remember someone once saying that "blackjack is not a team sport". I
totally agree with that. Unless of course you're the MIT team.

Egad, a mangled cliche'.
Actually, the final line should be "...but you can't pick your
friends' nose."
Please make a nose, I mean note of it.
