He's a lifelong smoker who has already outlived the average U.S. male
life expectancy, and apart from the normal effects of aging is still in
pretty good health. Not that he's a triathlete or anything, but
neither is he dragging around an oxygen canister. We got on him many
years ago to quit smoking, to no avail. He will never quit and we'll
probably have to pry the last pack of smokes from his cold, dead hands.
So all I can do for him at this point is save him some money.

Perhaps, but at what cost, Thomas, at what cost? With each visit I
feel more of my soul slipping away and the void inside me slowly
filling with raw cynicism, naked avarice, and semi-clothed loathing of
all that is right and good.
