The $20 trick really paid off for a week-long stay.

I enjoyed the dining stories and your adventures in Quark's. Do you
know if Quark's lets you pay for alcoholic beverages with the dining
certificate?

The server at Quark's seemed to think they would allow you to use the
certificate for alcohol if you also purchased a food item. You couldn't
just go sit at the bar and order drinks and use it to pay your tab. I would
double check with them, though, because it seemed like she wasn't 100% sure.
