Default fry's electronics?

Does anyone have a picture of the new flyover ramp leading to Fry's
off the strip? I assume it eliminates the left turn lane for
northbound traffic heading for Fry's?? TIA.

Try asking at misc.transport.road - they seem to be more into this
sort of thing.

The last time I was there, it appeared that the flyover was going to
primarily serve the new resort complex on the lot just to the north of
Fry's. It appears that to get to Fry's, a U turn will be required in
the resort property, then back onto LVB and a right into Fry's.

If it's anything like Fry's merchandise, it will quit working and you will
have to stand in line
to be called a lair (for over 1 hour).

Agreed. I went to a Fry's near Seattle a while back & it beats Best
Buy hands-down; it's not even close. Fry's has way more stereo
components, CD's,...even portable & table radios! Remember those?
They must have had 40 or 50 models. Fry's must make those other
stores whimper like a little puppy when they see how much more
selection Fry's has.

I love shopping at Fry's but the truth is, at least here in DFW area,
their prices are not the best. You have to know, and this is often
true, what a good price is for the item you are looking at. Their
selection however is excellent.

I just went to Fry's for the first time yesterday. I thought the store was
excellent. The only question I have is how do you get the job of
"line-number-giver-outer" ... or "receipt-checker-guy"? Those must be two
of the most laid back jobs in the city.

The best way to "thank" a bartender is to not stiff them.
The best way to stiff a bartender is simply say "thanks."

Yeah, but the tips are lousy.

Fry's can be absolutely overwhelming!

I first went to Fry's in Palo Alto with some local friends. They were
playing a game where they tried to max out the number of Fry's
employees it took to answer a very simple question, and for that round
it was something like 6. :)

I've been to Fry's in Las Vegas, and I really wish we had one here,
but when I'm on vacation in LV, there's no way I'm gonna get some big
ticket item, worry about shipping it back, then worry about support
when it's sitting 1300 miles away!

Annie and others, here's a little "heads up," for you when shopping
Fry's. In some of the departments like computers, electronics, home
entertainment and appliances, you'll see young folk in white shirt and
tie. These are commissioned salespeople. When you purchase something
like a camera, computer, TV, pocket PC, blender, memory, TV camera etc.,
these guys are there to assist you. Some are not really that
knowledgeable, but there are some who are worth their weight in gold
(well, copper at least) . Regardless, they depend on a sale to live.

When I shop at Fry's, I don't always need help and just put stuff into a
cart. Before checking out, however, I almost always push my cart over
into one of the commissioned sales areas and look for a clerk. I tell
them I'm about ready to check out and ask if there's anything in the
cart they can make a commission on. Almost always, they'll spot
something and will write it up. There's no hassle or cost to me, and
some young person out trying to make a living gets a little something
extra to make up for the times they give advice and help, only to not
make the sale.

The other point I want to bring out about Fry's is that they sell
merchandise that's been returned if they believe it's in OK condition.
Returning something to Fry's is a bit of a hassle, since they go through
the box to verify that everything they think should be there is there
and that nobody has done something like remove a HD or memory from a
returned computer. Their stuff is then repackaged and shrink wrapped
with a special label. The label clearly shows that the box is a resale
of a returned item and carry's Fry's 30 day moneyback guarantee with no
restocking fee.

THEY USUALLY MARK THE PRICE DOWN ABOUT 5% FROM RETAIL.

Now, what I've found is that is if you ask one of the commissioned
salespeople about the price, some will go to a supervisor and get more
money taken off. I was purchasing 4 IP web based security cameras to go
with some I already have, and found several with returned labels and 5%
knocked off. I spotted a salesman I remembered from past dealings and
who I had gotten some free commissions in the past and asked him if he
could get more money knocked off 4 of the cameras. He talked to a
supervisor and when he returned, all 4 cameras were marked down 25%
instead of 5%.
