Default Santa Fe Station Chip Redemption

Reading the paper today, I noticed a little ad about the necessity to
redeem chips for SFS. Does anyone know the reason? I don't have any
chips, but am curious because the place hasn't been sold, to the best of
my knowledge, and isn't being closed down.

They may be redesigning the chips & want all the old ones turned in.
If you have some & don't turn them in by the date specified, then the
only way you'll get your money back is if you post it on Ebay.
