We have both here in Phoenix. I'd take In'NOut for the burgers, and
Sonic for the Tater Tots and chocolate malts.
On the gastric distress scale, I suffer less after eating at I&O than
at Sonic. I don't think the food at In N Out has ever bothered me, but
I have had some interesting stomach cramps once or twice after eating
at the Sonic in Flagstaff.
Speaking of restaurants with an "N" in the middle of the name, Andrew,
do they have Steak N Shake's in your neck of the woods? Grew up eating
that food in Peoria, still have to have some every time I go back to
Illinois to visit mom. Love their burgers, love their fries, love
their chili mac.

I remember Steak N Shake very distinctly from St. Louis when I was in
my teens. Also Dog N Suds. :)

Back in my college days, I had a Danish friend who worked at Der
Weinersnitchel. He was always taking about doing it doggie syle.

The problem with RR is that their fish basket and fish
sandwich basket are so good that I don't get the hamburger.

It depends on whether you're more interested in fries or something to
drink.
The burgers are about equal, but the In & Out Fries blow every other
chain (not just Sonic) out of the water - however, Sonic has everyone
beat in the drink department (that's pretty much its advertising
selling point, isn't it?).

I've had them both and prefer In and Out. But my favorite of all time
is Good Times, a local chain in the Denver area. If any of you are
ever in Colorado I urge you to try one. Matt W. - you've probably had
them all (I&O, Sonic, Good Times) - what say you?
