Hi Chuck-

You listed Delmonico's as the best steak in LV in a previous post. I am
thinking about making reservations there.

Can you elaborate a little more about why you like it so much, please? I am
looking for a memorable place, and I have heard the ambiance is nothing
special, and can be ruined by the fact that they don't really enforce dress
code standards. Is that your experience?

Any additional info would be helpful.

Best,
Frank

Frank---

I frankly don't recall Chuck ever coming out in favor of my favorite
steakhouse of all time, but if he did I wouldn't be surprised.

The food and the service at Delmonico is superb! The dress code is NOT
enforced, so if that is one of your criteria, then look elsewhere. On
the whole, the ambiance is, in a word, forgetable, but what the heck?

Tom

For the best steak go to BK and get the Angus Steak Burger. You will be
glad to know BK does not let rif raf in so you don't have to worry about
the dress code being enforced.

I tried making reservations at Delmonico's two months ahead of time,
and they were booked. And this on a Wednesday night with no major
conventions in town.
Someday I'll make it there.

A res is a virtual necessity. Book it as early as you can.

> Can you elaborate a little more about why you like it so much, please?

2 words.

Flawless.

The meat they serve is perfect. Perfectly prepared, perfectly
seasoned, perfectly aged. The staff is exquisite. These folks know
what they're doing and have it down to an art. The wine list is deep
and flawless.

As I and others have mentioned over and over, try the bone in ribeye.
I also like the double pork chops. The gumbo is next to perfection
and we always order the BBQ shrimp appetizer. Trust me, you'll thank
me later. About the only flaw is at dessert, where the only real
standouts are the Irish whiskey Creme Brulee and the chocolate cake.

There are far nicer rooms in town, but I don't go to a steakhouse to
look at the furnishings and walls. If you want both ambiance and a
great steak, go to Prime.

Yep, again, if you're looking for a place that does enforce a dress
code (by Vegas standards), go to Prime.

ANY of the places on my list will knock your socks off from a taste
standpoint. They're ALL at the top of the heap for meat out west.
granted, there are better places in the midwest and a few better in
some of the larger urban cities, but in Vegas...... these are the
cream of the crop.

Enjoy.

Also, I can't seem to find any site with the two place's menus with prices.

Do you happen to remember which was pricer or know where I can find the menu
with prices?

Did you remember to hold your arms out straight so it's be harder for
them to throw the net over you?

Well, let me preface this by saying that when we go to Prime, I wear
a jacket. They have a 'jackets preferred' policy, that can be
enforced, but......... I've seen men in the place without one. I
guess it's all in 'who you know'.

Not so at Delmonico, where there is no such policy and you can
literally wear whatever you want.
