anyone, who might have knowledge about the condo market in las vegas.
If I were to purchase a condo in vegas, how would it compare with a single
family home, as far as value and appreciation is concerned?
Would a condo hold it's value over time, when compared to a single family
house?
Do the authorities use the same residential tax rate for condos compared to
single family homes?
After renting that condo in vegas last week, I'm thinking that might be what
I need, rather than a SFH with a yard to take care of and other outdoor
maintenance tasks.
Would appreciate advice, even from the chuckster, since he owns a condo in
vegas.

I too, thought of purchasing a condo. The issue is that most of the
condo's are held by carpetbaggers who have purchased them in hopes of
fllipping thm and cleaning up. I believe that most of these condo's
are going to have to come down. I am currently waiting for a certain
percentage of the carpet baggers to go down the tubes prior deciding
whether to purchase one or not.
Good luck

Just curious, but why would YOU even consider BUYING someplace to stay
in Vegas when you can get a comped room or suite anytime, anyplace? I
probably spend at least 14 nights a year in Vegas, and haven't paid
for my room in over 15 years.

This would be a permanent change of address. Live in a condo in vegas and
maybe spend some of the hot summer months in Washington state with my kids.
I want to get away from the snow and ice of new england and the high
property taxes. As for comps, I don't do comps. Never had any interest in
spending $400 gambling and then feel good because I got a lousy meal for
free.
I'm not that much of a gambler anyways.

Sure would be FUN though. One can only IMAGINE the fun one could
have sending pictures and video of PayTan, working in the yard
slinging 60 pound bags of cement mix... to the SSDI folks who are
paying him NOT to work, since he's "disabled".

That sounds like the best of both worlds. I moved here from New England
12 years ago. I absolutely love the perpetually sunny and dry weather.
I don't gamble either, but it is very wonderful just to be in Vegas. | |

| | Guest | Las vegas condos...need advice. My dream is to have enough dough to buy me one of them Streamline
condos next door to the El Cortez downtown. Man, that would be
awesome!
However, I think those kinds of dreams are called nightmares. It may
turn out to be too much of a good thing....but I'd still like to give
it a go!

Well, I received some good advice and comments. They were all appreciated,
especially from the people who live in condos.
Chuckies comments were to be expected, so I just fluff those off. Then
again, if he ever decides to sell that place he has in vegas, maybe he would
give a fellow avlv'er a discount...like me. :)

I am getting ready for a lifestyle change in a few years.
Not certain where I am going to end up.
Vegas is an option...
