| | Guest | Excalibur pool reno - guests use Luxor pool, now Luxor pools under reno?? My family is visiting Vegas in late April, staying at Excalibur. The
pool experience is important to my daughters and a large consideration
when booking. Excalibur pool is under renovations, but the website
clearly stated that guests could use the Luxor pools just by showing
their room keys. I even checked the Luxor site to confirm this before
booking. This morning I went to the Luxor site and here is a new
message:

Pool
The pools at the Luxor are currently under renovation. However we do
have one pool open for guest use. The hours of operation are 9am-6pm
daily. Our poolside staff is ready to assist you with everything you
need. For cabana reservations please call ...

Wow - all guests from 2 large hotels in 1 pool where usually 5 or more
pools are open!!?? I know late April isn't exactly high pool season
but come on, guys. I guess we'd better hope that the Excalibur pool
opens earlier than scheduled (yeah, right that'll happen).

| | Guest | Excalibur pool reno - guests use Luxor pool, now Luxor pools under reno?? So confusing when I read this title. I was thinking, "There's an Excalibur
in Reno??!!"
Anyway, good luck with the pool situation. If I am you, and this is really
an important issue, I would book elsewhere. There are hotels with better
pools than EX or Lux. (Flamingo, Mirage, TI and Trop come to mind).

| | Guest | Excalibur pool reno - guests use Luxor pool, now Luxor pools under reno?? If I was going with my kids (who also enjoy the pool), I'd probably
book at Mandalay Bay. They have a neat wave pool and beach area. But
yeah, it is probably way more expensive.

Even if all of the Luxor pool area was open I was thinking the same thing
about how it would be 2 hotels worth of guests in one pool area.
Can't say for the Excalibur pool as I've never been there, but the Luxor
pool area is pretty big,... but still, with 2 hotels worth of guests one
would expect it to be pretty packed at most times of the day even if the
whole thing was open. | |

It's best, that they renovate the pools now and get them open for the
summer. Can you image all of those kids who come in from CA and stay at the
excalibur, trying to fit into one pool?

I don't think its a big deal. Pool season isn't for another couple of
months. The water will still be a bit on the cool side, so I seriously
doubt there will be many people in the pool in April.

Excalibur website says "SPRING 2007" but a few different travel sites
(I can't remember which ones offhand) mentioned an estimated
completion date of April 30th.. We're going the week before that.

I know a lot of people have already weighed in on this and I probably
should drop it but I would definitely book elsewhere. I like to hang
out by the pool too but the thought of getting ready to go the pool and
then having to walk over to another property bringing along book, sun
screen, etc, just leaves me depressed.

I talked to a lady in reservations at Excalibur and she said the "old
pool" is open but the new area is not. I don't know what the old pool
is like.
