Default Passing along a newbie question

I received this interesting question from a Ron E. from Atlanta:

Dere MR. Wolf:

Me and my family our planning a June trip to Las Vegas and are staying
at th fabulous Stratosphere. We heerd they have a Waltons Mountain
fantasy Sweet there and I'm wondering if we all could stay in the same
big room just like the Walton's did on TV? That would be cool! The
pronblem I had is that my grandpa died last spring after being hit in
the head by a junk of frozen poop from a passing airplane, so I was
thinking maybe some member of this group could fill in for him. You
would be sleeping in my bed with me.

Ron

let's hope it was a rich lawyer or oilman

Ron thinks it was feces released by an MD, because it didn't stink.

No, but I do get summaries from my wife at the dinner table. Sort of
like W.'s wife gives him synoposes of "Dora" at his dinner table.

BTW, Chuck, show I save money by buying a new DLP widescreen (looking
at Sony's SXRD), or spluge on an LCD or plasma set after they go on
sale after the Superbowl?

For 98% of the viewing public, an LCD or Plasma

With my eye, I don't see much of a difference in rear projection DLP
and plasma or LCD, and a DLP is half the cost. Isn't is true that
plasma sets have a limited lifespan of maybe 5-6 years? Sony makes a
DLP that comes with an extra bulb and instructions for the customer to
install it himself when needed.
I know you are an expert, but I can't see paying $5000 for a set when
a $2300 set looks just as good.

Chuck can probably tell you right off the bat, but IMHO, the plasma sets
use a lot more power than the LCD or DLP ones. For a long and
trouble-free life, my off the cuff reaction would be a wall mounted LCD
with built-in HD tuner and cable card slot.
