I definitely get and agree with what you are saying. For me though, the
attraction is staying in a place (in my case, usually The Venetian) that is
completely opposite to my own personal tastes. I remember my first time
staying there and that I wasn't all that comfortable there. The decor
reminded me too much of my mother's furniture.
Now though, I am quite comfortable staying there. I enjoy the fact that the
decor is so completely different to what I have or desire to have at
home--it really takes me out of my element and makes me feel like I am away.
As the saying goes, it's a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live
there. I suppose though that if someone forced me, I could probably get
used to it. ;)
