| | Guest | Need help from local Hi folks,
I was out there last week and had a traffic 'incident' at the IP.
Some dirt bag jumped in front of my car as I was pulling in for the
valet. The security tape clearly shows he 'lunged' (security's words in
IP report) onto the car. He cut his hand on the beer bottle he threw
down. What I need is a blank police accident report from Metro. They
said they can't mail them. This happened on private property but I still
want to file a report.
Thanks for any help...

incident has already been resolved?

It's resolved in my opinion and the IP's. Who knows what some lawyer
will think...

FWIW, on the strip, casino security IS the police for all intents and
purposes. Metro usually lets them handle such things and steers clear.
A police report will not insulate you from a lawyer whatsoever, so if
you have IP security vouching for you on their own property, then you
have the best ally you could possibly have in this "incident".
Obviously if you report it to Metro, you will also (read the fine
print) have to report it to your insurance company as well.
And I think you probably would have to file the report before you left.
So would the drunk guy.
If you have both left town, both without reporting it to Metro (and you
would know by now if HE reported it to Metro), then it's doubtful that
even a bad lawyer would take it without a valid police report from the
juridiction in which it occurred.
I would simply call IP and ask for an "incident report", or something
similar, and keep it in your files.
Retroactive police reports for small civil matters on private property
well after the fact are usually not given much consideration. The
damage, proof, and witnesses are gone.
The guy might as well pick a car at random and file a report against it
at this point.
Seriously, I wouldn't worry about it. If it was an issue, your
insurance company would have already placed a courtesy call to you.

He wasn't in town yet...

Thanks for the input. The bum lives somewhere on Paradise Rd. He also
gave an address in IL. The guy at the rental lot was only concerned that
there was no damage to his car. The IP says they keep the tape for "a
long time", probably until the statute of limitations runs out for them.

| | Guest | Need help from local Doesn't sound like you have much to worry about, but if you're
concerned it makes sense to take precautions. Just because the other
guy didn't make a fuss now doesn't mean he can't sue you down the road.
A friend of mine was in an accident in which the other driver told the
police he was unhurt, but then nearly a year later the other driver
sued him. My friend eventually won, but it was very stressful.
Make sure you have a copy of the IP's report on the incident, and you
might even ask them if they could make you a copy of that segment of
the video tape, just to play it safe.

In the lead? What are you, crazy?
I don't see Mr. Berman out on the strip handing out free information to
poor, lost, tourists, informing them on where to obtain "barely legal"
tail!!
Oh sure, he mails out some blank forms to some guy across the country,
but when you need a Ho', and you need one now ... is Mr. Berman going
direct you to the appropriate venue??
I think not! | |
