Default confusing comps

I've always found it a lot easier to get drinks at the bar. Play max
bet,
tip the bartender, and get a new drink every 5 or 10
minutes................

I adhere to this as well, but Toad, the pay schedules at the bar's VP
machines are usually poorer than in those on the floor.

I've found that the bartender himself has a lot to do with whether or
not you get your drinks comped while playing VP at the bar. Some check
your game to make sure you're making max bets, some couldn't care less
(personal experience on that one). But one universal truth is this:
Tipping helps the bartender's attitude!

I've only seen one case where I've been refused a comp drink when not
playing max coins. This was back in the late 80's downtown (of all
places), I forget exactly where, on the south side of Fremont.

I was waiting for some others, kinda killing time playing VP, and the
cocktail server came around.

Me: "I'll have a vodka sour, please."

CW: {looking at me, looking at machine} "You're not playing max coin!"

Me: "So?"

CW: "Gotta play max coin for drinks."

Me: {getting up} "Never mind, I'll go somewhere else!" :(

And I did! I >NEVER< saw this nonsense again, ever.

>Tipping helps the bartender's attitude!

Oh yes, most definitely, but in the case above I never got the chance to
tip.

Thankfully that little kick never caught on. Today you can play the
penny machines slowly, one coin at a time if you want, and they will
serve you drinks just fine.

I remember last January at the Plaza playing penny video poker and
keeping a whole dollar going for a couple hours while getting drinks on
every round.

and dealers, don't forget the dealers. Off strip at least, those strip
weirdos are a strange bunch, I've tipped some of them and they don't even
say thanks. Well screw that. I can honestly say that your gambling
"session" for lack of a better word, will be MUCH more fun OFF strip than
on. The crowd is more "let your hair down" and the dealers and pit staff
are a little less jaded.

Learn to play low limit (2-4) Texas hold'em poker well and you can have some
real fun times gambling. I know I have. And as you ALL know, I don't think
too much of gambling in general.

head to the Fiesta Rancho. I'll introduce you to the cocktail waitresses
and it will be made certain that you get all the comped champagne and
cigarettes you desire.

rooms are only 29.95 btw. and they are quite nice. only problem is we need
another 100 at least.

Do you skate? We have ice. Movies? Next door at Texas tons of screens.
Bowling? We have that too.

Is this the real, bookable, everyday rate, or a special rate while things
are slow, or the "good buddy" rate? :)
