Default Poker Chips

My son has decided he would like a set a good poker chips for Christmas.

Looking around, I have seen 9, 11.5 and 13 gram chips, some all clay and
others a clay composite with a metal center.

Which are closest to real casino chips and is there a "discount house" in
Vegas or elsewhere where I can order 500 or 1000 chips in a case for him.

Thanks

I wonder why someone out there hasn't tried to counterfeit chips. It seems
like it would be easier than counterfeiting twenty dollar bills.
So, why hasn't someone done this?

I've wondered the same thing for years, and asked around, and the closest I've
been able to find was counterfeiting tokens, the silver dollar-sized silver
coins used in dollar video poker machines. I'm not sure why counterfeiting $5
or $25 chips isn't done, but perhaps it wouldn't be worth the time/effort/cost
for chips that could only really be used on one trip to a casino before they
were discovered and steps were taken to apprehend the guilty party.

Default Poker Chips

I purchased 200 clay chips at the Gamblers General Store and every month
at our home game the guys comment how nice the chips are. I recommend
the Gamblers General Store, if not buying then just for a visit just to
look around, its an interesting place. The neighborhood is not that
great. Tom in Ct.
