Electronics? The Game Boy Advance (GBA) is a portable game machine that plays games
stored on cartridges. Each game costs $30-35 USD new, but they get
cheaper over time. No cartridges are included. It's worth nothing that
there are two flavors of the GBA on the market right now:
The first is the original GBA, which is being bundled with an
"e-Reader." The e-Reader is an odd gizmo that allows you to play some
simple games printed on cards. For the most part, it isn't that
interesting, but it does come with cards, so you get 1-2 simple games
in the box you buy. Cost -> $70 USD
Then there is the newer version - The GBA SP. The differences between
the GBA and the GBA SP are
1) Cost - The SP is $100 USD
2) no e-Reader
3) A backlit screen. This is a great feature. The screen on the
original GBA is very hard to read unless you have bright light shining
directly on the screen. The backlit screen makes the SP well worth the
extra money.
4) A rechargeable battery. The original GBA runs off AA's. The SP has
a built in rechargeable battery and cannot run off AA's. For most
people, the rechargeable battery in the SP is a good thing. I assume
the recharger is designed for US current and might not work overseas.
5) Form factor. The SP model is made to fold in half to form a neat
little protected package. The older model is a little bulkier.
You can get these at any major department or electronics store in
Vegas - Wal-Mart, Target, etc. If you let us know where you'll be, we
can point you to the closest one. |
