Just wondering why nobody is talking about it.
Of course it's bad for tourism to talk about it, but it's probably
worse for
use to not talk about it.

The part of the Kilauea Rim Drive between Jaggar Museum and
Chain Of Craters Road in the Volcanoes National Park was closed
about a week ago due to a lot more than usual sulfur emission.

My boss said that a week ago there was as much of a cloud
coming out of Halemaumau Crater as out of Pu'u O'o.

It's mentioned on the local new (at least on KGMB9), but here.
I feel it's worth mentioning.

On the more norther island you may have gotten some rain, and
in fact it went down the island chain and got as close to us as
Laupahoehoe. Hilo got a trace of rain in all this so far, and most of
the vog.
In a way I'm basically trying to jinx myself here and get some rain
and get the vog rained down.

We're north shore Kaua`i --- and the VOG has drifted
up here, too. Thankfully, no odor -- but it's hazy,
hazy, hazy.

Makes for gorgeous sunrises and sunsets! <g>

Yours is the first report I see that it's visible as far away as
that. I know from a co-worker that it wasn't too good on Oahu.

Can't see sunsets from here, but yes, we get some pretty red
sunrises.

(Eyes starting to itch again. It's actually pretty clear today,
but it takes a while to get the sulphur (spelling shows my age,
I guess) out of your system)

been there, done that.

Not sure whether I'd be able to get back down in my current state,
allergy meds or not. Been there, done that too. Ended up with my
inner ears filled with liquid once, which still beats burst eardrums
by a long ways from what I've heard.

Annoying he calls that. We sometimes can't see town, which is
3 miles down the hill. This morning I could see the horizon on my
way to work. Still fuzzy, but at least visible. Yesterday morning I
could barely see the coast. Some days I have barely been able to
see sea-level Hilo.
