Default Hawaii's bridges

Hawaii public works may wish to consider using
the Heavy Lift Transporter to replace the driving
surface of bridges requiring replacement.
Here in Ottawa this weekend the construction crews
have reserved 15 hours to do the work.
All preparatory work.. the cutting of the existing
damaged sections of the bridge are done without any
significant interference to traffic flow.
The new section is prebuilt beside the bridge.
The 15 hours is allocated to use the Heavy Lift
Transporter to take away the old section and then to
install the new section.
The cost of the Heavy Lift Transporter is $2 million.

John... you don't mean it relaces the truss section
because of the term "road section"? Probably we don't
need it in Hawaii because most bridges here are made of
concrete.

an update on the use of the Heavy Lift Transporter to
install the new section of the bridge within a 15 hour
timeframe.
The final report stated that the installation required
17 hours. The reason for the additional 2 hours was the
high temperatures in Summer which would not allow the
asphalt to set properly for vehicular traffic.
The $50,000 fine was not levied for that reason..
as well as the $5,000 for each 15 minutes of delay.
I encourage Hawaiian Public Works to use the
Heavy Lift Transporter in future bridge reconstruction.
Aloha
