Pokiki is Hawaiian for Portuguese. Portagee is slang for Portuguese.
Also spelled Pukiki. I'm not sure about the glottal stops and syllable
emphasis, but the pukiki also means "strong, boisterous, stormy, as
wind" (eg, makani pukiki). Not entirely coincidental, I think, and
Frank DeLima would agree with me.
