Default Pet peeve

Was at the Pearl Ridge Border's today for lunch and
read a chapter from Obama's book "The Audacity of
Hope". Noticed a number of Japanese tourists there too.
Odd...

Was browsing through the science fiction and getting
annoyed that so much "fantasy" is shelved there as
well. Magic is not the same thing as science. Granted
some science fiction is almost like magic stuff-- "Star
Wars" for example. Nevertheless there is some slender
scientific explanation even it seems implausible. Of
course, the stories that are more plausible are better.
Are there any science fiction readers out there who
would agree?

I'm having a hard time reading anything these days, however I used to
LOVE Ray Bradbury stuff (short stories) as a kid. Fantasy is just too
creepy for me, yet, I love the Harry Potter movies (never read one of
her books). My brother used to have a subscription to Analog, he was
a BIG Sci Fi enthusiast.

Here's what Ray Bradbury himself said about his work:

"I don't write science fiction. I've only done one science fiction book
and that's Fahrenheit 451, based on reality. Science fiction is a
depiction of the real. Fantasy is a depiction of the unreal. So Martian
Chronicles is not science fiction, it's fantasy. It couldn't happen, you
see? That's the reason it's going to be around a long time -- because
it's a Greek myth, and myths have staying power."
