Depends on where you are, what the high school student and parents
do and how far you commute to school. I for one can't get off of work
to get a high school student home after extracurricular activities
on an almost daily basis, let alone cut it out of my sleeping hours
to pick them up after theater performances. 3 miles up hill may be
walkable even in the middle of the night, without much street lighting
and without curbs - never mind that it might rain 2"/hour (OK, we've
seen 9" in an hour) -, but those who live 20 miles from their high
school have more problems than that. You mean you think there's a
bus going into Hamakua or Puna from Hilo at 11 p.m., or even at 9?
(That's talking about students I know. I very much doubt that the
tranportation from the high schools is better.)
