Hawaii Loa Ridge, and the age of the home is 15 yrs. Gorgeous enough to
be featured on Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous (not that it ever
was). But the beauty is skin deep, and inside the walls lurks
Stachybotrys. Rumor has it that this mold can cause bleeding lungs in
infants. This is unsubstantiated, but the truth sometimes gets mixed up
with lies on the internet. Abatement, on the other hand, does cost tens
of thousands of dollars, should the occupant choose to do so. Who can
put a price on health? Certainly not the insurance companies, who have
probably crafted a slimy exclusionary clause in their policies to avoid
paying for damages.

Anyone in the market for a "beautiful looking" home on the top of the
food chain? Clearly the molds are doing some munching too.

Why are some homes, mostly 15+ old homes on Oahu built on stilts while
newer homes are not?

I've been scoping homes on Oahu and really surprised by poor
appearance of many comparably priced homes compared to my area.
