Ok...I'll agree to disagree.

I agree. IIRC that when I sometimes drove in Palo Alto,
so many people would be on the streets biking. They
have terrific bike paths there.

You don't have to be a non-local to want this security.
Have a retired friend who sold and bought into a secure
condo appt. He's gone most of the year. He teaches in
Costa Rica in the summers and Thailand in the winters.
Mainly comes back to take care of taxes and other
personal affaires. So I guess he does pay his taxes on
his foreign earnings. Says he keeps the appt vacant
rather than try to rent it out. Will be returning to
Costa Rica in a couple of months.

Auntie Maria
I love your island. I consider it my second home and I am glad to hear
about the resolution by the mayor. I live in California but the reason
that I live Kaua`i is the unspoiled beauty of it. I definitely don't
want to see any jamba juices or the like on every corner. I love the
people and the way of life, I lived there for a month (my longest) and
can't wait until I can live there fulltime.

One thing you can bet your life on is that Kauai,
like anyplace else in the world, is going to
change. Will it change for what you think is for
the "better" or for the "worse" depends on your
definition of what is "better" or "worse", when
you are ready to make that decision.

But tell me, are the realtors and homeowners

Can't answer your question, I live on Maui, but we
had not trouble with the realtor we used. As a
matter of fact, I was very pleased with the
service he provided, especially since he saved us
a whole lot of money, by knowing what the seller
would settle for when we made our offer.

island fulla el lay transplants.
