What one writes is often interpreted based on who one is, or is
perceived to be. Sometimes wit can be confused for hostility - the
limitations of human moderation.

Good point and well put.

I believe that "who one is" would still be the basis with any
moderating team. It just might be a different list. And such is
the world of written communication.

Silly emoticons and "LOLs" could never take the place of a face
to face discussion.
