Is he the leader of the union? If so, since when has anyone working in the
union offices been ever affected by a strike. Don't they continue working
and getting paid by the union?

As in one that takes over MTL (the current company) or have
a bunch of smaller companies that each company service a different
part of the island? | |

Yes.

Change that, and I can assure you there would be fewer strikes....

| | Guest | Bus Proposal by Mayor I would guess that Kahele is on the union staff-- like
a director of the bargaining units?? If so then he can
be fired from the union if his performance is bad. But
being a good union man, I'm sure he also belongs to
another union? A labor contract would apply to him as
well-- and he would probably be well aware of his
rights having worked on the staff.
I'm sure he'll get his pay hikes even if it means that
they stay out of work long enough to earn them. It'll
be harder to go backwards on the next go round, and the
economy may be better at that time. Even so the no
layoffs rule would work well if the economy went bad
here, or ridership fell off with the start of the BRT.
Drivers may not want to switch to the BRT vehicles.

But it's like a utillity. The company has a public
fanchise. Unless they go on strike, no other company
can operate the same service.

How much traffic still exists with your bus service when its running cut
down on the use of the cars that people drive.
I have found that people still want to drive and use their car for
transportation.
Bus service is a schedule, andpeople do not like and want to build their
daily life around a schedule, which most of do live on a schedule. The
waiting and taking bus to me a real pain. Unless everything you do is
on the bus line and you do not have to transfer to get to another part
of the city you want to go the time involved , time is important to
people , they do like to spend time with their family and take the
family without having to wait on a bus
What has this bus service done to cut the traffic down if any. People
love their car and will not give them up.
Bus provide service for those who cannot drive or to old to drive or not
afford a car.
As I see it the car is here to stay even light rail will not solve the
problem only ad to the traffic jams. Only way people will park their
car is the world runs out of gas
and they will still find a way to run a car.
Electric, fuel cells what ever will do it solar power. I love my
car.. | |

That is how we humans react. I remeber when I came home to attend U of H,
that it did not take long before I thought that going into town was a long
time. | |

You have got to be kidding me. Did they think that by forming OTS they
could avoid future strikes. Or was there some other fundamenhtal reason
they chose forming OTS.

And before the strike it was an hour and 15 each way in commute traffic?
Still less than tragic.
