Default Kamehameha School Controvery

I heard in the news that some parents and students are saying that this
child who is going to start going there is not welcomed. Frankly, I do not
know if she should be admitted to the school or not. But hasn't anyone
learned anything from the Civil Rights movement. Anyone remember how black
children were treated when they were first integrated into the all white
public schools. I cannot speak for anyone else, but I thought then that how
they were treated was an outrage. Where is the outrage in this situation.

It's a private school. The Civil Rights issues were with public schools.
Big difference.

Interesting distinction. So if you are a private institution, it is okay to
abuse people you do not feel is welcomed?

In a word, yes.

Catholic Schools require that students state out loud their beliefs in
Catholicism, as when they require communion from kids.

My kids went to an Episcopal School where morning religious services were
required, even if the kids weren't Episcopalian (they could refuse communion,
but still had to attend).

My question is this:

is King Kam requiring genetic tests? Or is it merely looking for cultural
allegiances (as do Catholic and Episcopal schools?)
