I think they have some security at nite. There's a park
ranger that lives there and the gate is close to
visitors after hours. If you don't think that's safe
enough, then no park for camping is safe in Hawaii.
BTW, I think you may be required to use a tent for
sleeping in the park and I think they have rules on
fires and cooking. But I guess that enforcing these
rules would be up to the park ranger.
