Doesn't that depend on how well prepared you were for being out of work?
Finanaical advisors have been telling us for years that a prudent person
would have cash to survive at least six months. I am willing to bet, very
few people do that.

LanaBanana,
It seems to me you are contradicting yourself in your last few posts.
You say that only US citizens should get benefits.
Then you motivate that with paying taxes and contributing to America.
As if all citizens contribute and no imigrants, and all citizens and no
imigrants pay taxes.
Your arguments does not match your position!

Control over how your tax money is spent, well the government of every
state set up departments where the money goes to support services.
However, if they put it in the General Fund money is transferred it
goes anywhere they want to spend your tax money.

They use schools, elderly , health care to lead people in to vote for
initiatives but who to say where the money goes. We vote but it goes in
a different pot of government spending.

We all pay taxes, yes those who get the most advantage and do not pay
their full equal share are the takers who live on the system. You pay
they take.

Government pays their department heads the big wages and make more
layers of government to support as we have a buddy lets make a job for
him.

Government is full of spenders, as long as we forced to pay and must
pay it will never change. You pay or loose your home to non payment of
taxes.
Values of property will continue to raise as long as the interest rate
is low, but watch out when they rise again The need for services /
people will continue to grow and
welfare continue to be called upon.

Race has nothing to do with poverty or
assistance, We are all human and require needs filled by tax payers.

Government does provide its you the tax payer regardless of what race
you come from. Its like the law of the land to survive. There are
doers and then there is the let doers

I haven't been reading messages in this forum for a reason. But help
me out on this one, what really is the "Cause" Michael?

Lana, I don't know whether you didn't see my post, but I was talking about
INCOME taxes. No, I'm not on public assistance, but I would like to get
the same share (whatever may be left) of social security when I retire
that a citizen gets who has paid in the same.
Of course we pay property taxes too <g>.
And excise tax on the side income from business.

BTW: there are enough citizens who only take and take.

Maren - still German.
