Kefalonia and Zakyithos Hello,
I have roots in Zakynthos so I know quite a few places in Zakynthos that
would be of interest.
For sightseeing:
You MUST go see the sunset at the Navaghio at the top of the cliff, it is
breathtaking! You can get there by car, 30 mins from town.
You can visit the navaghio and blue caves by boat tours but there is usually
rough waters so its not always worth visiting.
You should visit San Marcos squre in town. Lots of little boutiques and
cafes.
You can also visit Bohali, which is a small town at the top of a cliff
overseeing the town of Zakynthos and the bay.
As for beaches, my favourites are: Aghios Nikolaos Beach ( at Vassilikos),
Gerakas Beach, Banana Beach and Kalamaki Beach.
I try to avoid Tsilivi & Laghanas beaches since they are flooded by
tourists. The other beaches are much more quiet and cleaner.
The Keri kaves are also woth a visit, you can get a boat at the port. They
take you at the caves and marathonisi a little deserted island but with a
beatifull beach. Cost is about 10 ?
Enjoy,
DK
