| | Guest | Cyclades 2005 Hi all,
I'm back from 18 days wandering around the Cyclades (actually Antiparos,
Koufonissi, Donoussa, Naxos and Mykonos). Had a great time. The first 14
days were windy - I can't remember it being windy for 14 days at once
before - wasn't too bad, but it prevented me from getting to Donoussa when I
wanted to, so I just swapped the order. I have now experienced flying from
Athens to Paros (tiny airport - terminal size of a house) and Mykonos to
Athens, in 36 or 48 seater propellor driven aircraft. This was due to me
getting stuck on Mykonos last year and missing the flight home.

It really depends what you want out of the place. I tend to stay in cheap
rooms, and if it's a large island I stay in the port town as it's handy for
the port, the nightlife and the bus station to get to other parts of the
island. If you let me know a bit more about what you want to do, I could
make some suggestions.

| | Guest | Cyclades 2005 We prefer to stay in cheap, clean, basic rooms, preferable in the main town
too. =)
Its just a place to sleep as we explore the island and take in some trips.

I have more experience of Naxos than Paros, as I haven't stayed on Paros
itself for quite a few years.
On Naxos, if you arrive by ferry there are so many touts that meet the
ferries that it is possible to just state what you are prepared to pay, i.e.
what I do is say that I want a room for 20 euro. When I go at the end of
August or beginning of September you can get quite a good room this way.
Most of the rooms in Naxos Town are behind Aghios Georgios (St George)
beach, at one end of the town so you look for boards saying they are in that
area. I don't usually go back to the same place as it depends who has vacant
rooms and has come to the port. They will have a portfolio of photographs of
the rooms to show you.
On Paros, you can probably do the same thing as when you get off the ferry
it's difficult to get past the touts.
