aegean airlines

Someone mentioned Aegean airlines as an option for getting to Lesvos. Has
anyone used them? I thought there was only Olympic.

Funny thing with Aegean airlines.....I went on line and booked 3 people over
and back to Lesvos from Athens.....all was good in that it came to about 258
euro. But that was before fees and taxes were added on at the last step.
The extra charges brought the total from 258 to 383. I didn't go ahead with
the purchase. Has anyone had a similar experience?

I've never used Aegean Airlines, but the same thing can happen if you book
any cheap airline on the internet. It happens with easyjet, Jet 2, etc.

42 euros pp does seem a bit steep though - I wouldn't usually expect to pay
more than about 20 quid in taxes for a return flight on one of the cheap
airlines to and from the UK. Are Greek airport taxes really that high?

The only two airlines I know of that fly to any Greek Islands are
Olympic and Aegean, though Aegean serves far fewer islands than
Olympic does. If you book through the Aegean web site it will almost
certainly be quite a bit cheaper than going through a site like
Expedia or Travelocity. It should also be cheaper than Olympic, which
does not give a discount on its web site.

The new Athens airport has very high taxes so the final price of air
tickets is much higher than that quoted by airlines. Same as Prague
airport.
