The Sierra Nevada ski resort is one of the best in Spain (as well as
the southernmost in Europe) the lack of trees is quite estrange, but it
makes for ample and smooth lanes.
Plus, the highest point in the resort is the Veleta peak, 2nd highest
in Sierra Nevada (and continental Spain, nearly 3.400 m.) from which
you can clearly see Africa on a good day.
Occasionally you can see snow in the Alhambra, too, this February,
IIRC.
