Italy - railway travel 15 August

I am going to be travelling on the afternooon of 15 August between Milan and
Desenzano del Garda.

What sort of travelling conditions should I expect that day - nearly
deserted trains because nobody's at work in Milan, or wedged trains because
everynody's going on holiday?

IME Milan is virtually empty in August (the weather is awful[1]).

On the coast you might find full trains, from Milan I would guess
they will be empty

[1] This of course depends upon your definition of Awful.

August 15th is a national holiday, everybody goes somewhere.

You might find empty trains because people moves mostly by car,
but there's a risk that they will be full.
Delays are normal ...

PS: if you can go a little bit north of Desenzano where the lake is
nicer and the weather is a little less hot than there
