which Greek island

I am planning a trip with my wife and daughter of 13 from San Francisco to
Greece....we will visit Athens for a day or two and then to an island for a
week. Something not too spoiled with nice architecture....harbor area...you
know the usual reasons people go to Greek islands. We are trying to decide
between the following: Paros, Naxos, or Sifnos.

Any recommendations would be welcome.

I haven't been to Sifnos. I'd choose Naxos over Paros on the basis of
being larger, still has __some__ local culture, etc.

Thanks for your comments....I forgot to say that we would be vacationing
from mid to end of June.

Having visited all three I am inclined to recommend Sifnos. It has
outstanding beaches and probably some of the best food you will ever have in
all of Greece. True, there are not a whole lot of "sites" to see but there
are others places that specialize in that and most islands in the Cyclades
don't offer exceptional sightseeing of archeological or cultural interest.
Paros is vastly overcrowded. Naxos is also a decent alternative but Sifnos
has the food edge. We visited Sifnos this past summer in August and never
felt overwhelmed by people. We stayed at Kamares and eventhough it
technically the "port" we never like it was one. The sea was crystal clear
and the vast sandy beach was greatly appreciated by my 6 year old.
Whatever your final choice you will definitely enjoy it.
