My wife and I went there last week for three days, not knowing much about
the city, other than guide books etc.
We visited the castle (half a day); went to the opera; attended one of the
many concerts in the city; had a few excellent meals; drank some beer;
visited a few museums - decorative arts, Czech museum of fine arts; gawped
at the clock in the old town square; walked around the Jewish quarter;
visited some amazing churches; walked along the river... And all this after
the city had had the heaviest snowfall for the last 40 years, apparently...
and came away thinking that we needed to go back to visit a lot of other
stuff.
You can get a Prague card which gives you free access to most of the above
and a lot of other places too. (not the opera or concert).
It is a beautiful city (especially with a coating of snow) - the people are
fine (not rude, we found - although you will need to learn a few phrases in
Czech - about 4 will do! - and don't talk loudly in restaurants and pubs -
that just attracts the pickpockets we were told - although we didn't have
any problems)
If you are going for a few weeks (which I guess you may be) I envy you. Have
a great time.
John.
