Default villas in sicily

We spent a wonderful week in a villa on the island of Ischia last year and
would like to spend two weeks this spring exploring Sicily. Would appreciate
any info on places you may have rented and comments on best places to locate -
preferably one week in each of two locations.

I'm sure you're aware that Sicily is a much larger island than
Ischia. Even with two locations, one on each side of the island,
getting from your home base to and from the sites you'll want to
see will probably take long enough that you might want to
reconsider that choice.

If I were going to Sicily for two weeks, I would plan on staying,
not in two locations, but a day or two (maybe three in places
like Palermo) each in Palermo, Erice, Agrigento, Siracusa,
Taormina, and Piazza Armerina. Maybe also Cefalu. So with
relatively short times in each place, I'd stay in hotels rather
than looking to rent villas. You may not get the luxury of a
villa that way, but you'll minimize your travel time and maximize
your vacation.
