| | Guest | Cheap airfares to Europe? Yeah, I know, a very old question. I'm going for a year, and travelling
shoestring, and don't know the first thing about getting a good deal. I'm
flying out of Boston and intend to go to Berlin, but if the fares are
better to some place close (like Amsterdam), I might fly there and find a
way to get to Germany.
Right now I'm considering a stand-by ticket (eg via Airtech), or calling
some of the New York travel agents that advertise in the Sunday NY Times.
That's about all I know. Any suggestions?
thanks in advance | |

Your best fare to Europe out of Boston will be to London, preferably
in November (Nov. thru the end of March is usually under $300.),
Tuesdays thru Thursdays are usually another $25. cheaper. From there
you should be able to get to Berlin inexpensively on Ryanair, Virgin
Express, Buzz, Easy Jet etc., depending on which of them fly there.
Their cheapest rates rates will be on the very early or very late
flights.

| | Guest | Cheap airfares to Europe? Thanks. Approximately how cheap could a flight from London to Berlin be
on one of the airlines you mentioned? (I'm wondering if it would be worth
flying to London (vs. Berlin), then taking one of these airlines out to
Berlin. Should I book ahead for one of these airlines, or just try to
pick up a flight at the airport on the same day? (sorry, I don't know
much about airline travel)).
