Default What is best way to buy train tickets Berlin-Prague and Prague-Munich?

My wife and I are flying to Berlin in early September, going by train
to Prague a few days later, and then going by train from Prague to
Munich after a few days in Prague.

I have heard that buying the single trip train tickets here in the USA
from Eurorail is considerably more expensive than waiting until we get
to Berlin. But will there be a problem in getting seat reservations
on the train if we wait until then? Do we need seat reservations?

How much cheaper would it be to buy a ticket from Berlin to a Czech
border town and then from the Czech border town to Prague, and doing
the same thing in going from Prague to Munich? How easy would it be?
In going to Prague, would you buy the ticket from a conductor on the
train?

Just got back from a month in Germany. We spent 5 days in Prague, and used
the "Prague Excursion Pass" to get from the Czech border into Prague (from
Nürnberg) and back to the German border (to Berlin; it doesn't have to be
the same entry/exit point).
It's $40 USD and we used it in conjunction with a German Railpass. You could
also buy a point-to-point ticket from Berlin to the Czech border.
About the Prague Excursion pass (per Rick Steves):
"Good for two train rides within a 7 day period: from any Czech border into
Prague, and then from Prague to any border crossing (stops on the way are
allowed). This pass is also available at Euraide offices in Berlin and
Munich. Some trains may offer only 1st or 2nd class."

Been to Europe a few times, but only in Germany, Czech Republic and
Netherlands. In my experience, you only need seat reservations on popular
"commuter" routes between major cities, and usually only in "rush hour"
timeframes. Many times I will make reservations if I am unsure and it is
cheap enough that it's not a bad idea for peace of mind.

Enjoy Germany (my favorite country) and Prague (beautiful!)!!!
